Over the fall, re:give partnered up with the Calgary Community Fridge as our first regular donation partner. We had received enough grocery gift cards and monetary donations that we were able to commit to a weekly grocery donation drop-off at the Calgary Community Fridge.
The Calgary Community Fridge is a mutual aid project aimed at addressing food equity in Calgary by helping those facing financial insecurity access free, fresh and healthy food 24/7. Their website offers great guidelines on how to donate and what can be donated. They also have the option to donate to cleaning and organizing the fridge if you are unable to donate groceries. The fridge / pantry is located at 902 Centre Street NE. Check out their website below to learn about the fridge, how you can get involved and how they are helping!
re:give chose to partner with the Calgary Community Fridge because we felt a connection to their grassroots approach to community outreach. As a newly established community outreach program ourselves, we know the power of supporting local.
Every Tuesday evening, keep your eyes open for a re:give team member dropping off some groceries to support the community! If you want to donate grocery gift cards specifically to the Calgary Community Fridge weekly drop off, reach out to any re:give team member!
